Frequently Asked Questions:
1. Do the nominators need to be of Chinese descent?
[Ans] Nominators do not need to be of Chinese descent. They need to be over the age of 25 and should not be the immediate family members of the applicant.
2. Can I email my application to you?
[Ans] We do not accept applications via email. Please print all necessary materials, including the Nomination form, Personal Info form, Application form, Reference letter, and supporting documents etc. and mail or dropped off at the CCC. We would like to avoid misprinting any of your documents as they need to be printed for the judging panel to review.
3. Can I apply if I am not living in Ontario?
[Ans] We only accept applications for those who reside in Ontario, Canada. The main reason for this is we require all winners come to the Awards Ceremony to receive their awards. Given that we do not have the funding to subsidize the traveling and hospitality costs, the scholarships are therefore more suitable for those who can attend the Awards Ceremony in person without additional costs.
4. Will I be contacted if I do not get into the first, second or third place?
[Ans] Yes, we will send email notifications to those applicants that do not get into First, Second or Third place. This is scheduled to be sent out mid or late December, 2008 after our judging and interviewing process.
5. Do you send out confirmations to applicants that you have received our applications?
[Ans] Yes, we send out email confirmations that we have received your applications. We receive many applications each year, so it takes time to type up all the email addresses for every single applicant for all four categories, so expect to hear from us mid November, approx. a week or two after the application deadline.
6. When and where can I drop off the application package at the CCC?
[Ans] Please drop off your applications at CCC, main office on the ground floor. You can hand it to any staff there.
They are open Mon – Fri. 9am to 5pm, Sat 10am to 5pm. Sun closed.
Their contact info can also be found here: www.cccgt.org/F.cgi/(en)/contact.html
